Gardens and ruins of Ninfa

The Ninfa Garden is an english style garden realized on the ruins of the city medieval called Ninfa. It was built up around the XI. century, next to the Pedemontana street, that goes through the plain and pass close the Lepini mountains. It’s small area but very important strategically speaking. At the end of 13th century it was destroyed by the war and the site was left until 1920’s, when Ninfa reborned with the same old name given by Caetani family. The path of the tour consist of visiting all the gardens between the ruins of the houses, churches, public buildings, and aristocratic palaces where the vegetation and the ruins create an  harmonic  and charming sight. You walk under the big trees and little rivers among non common plants come from all the world.
Today the Ninfa Garden is run by the foundation “Roffredo Caetani di Sermoneta” and is open from April October every first Saturday and Sunday of the month¸then is possible to visit the garden on the first Sunday of November, the third Sunday of april, may and june as well as on the most important festivities such as Easter, april 25th, may 1st, june 2nd, august 15th. On these days you can also visit the italian style garden. The visit lasts 1 hour and the path is 1,5 km with different stops.
